Project Ö
Finnish Archipelago, Baltic Sea
Designed and built by Aleksi Hautamäki and Milla Selkimäki
Project Ö sits on a small, remote island deep in the Finnish Archipelago. Getting there takes effort; a long drive far from any major town, then a boat ride through the archipelago; but that distance is part of the experience.
The main living quarters is in the largest cabin, with a sauna tucked in the end overlooking the sea. A smaller structure close by houses the workshop. Across the island, a glass roofed dining hall is perched alone.
It’s minimal, but not sterile. The entire island quietly reflects a different attitude towards life. One where architecture doesn’t compete with nature, it just quietly frames it.
