Free Test Questions For Your Drone/UAS Nightflight (Daylight Operations) Program.

Flying your sUA at night opens up a multitude of commercial opportunities to the Part 107 pilot, such as thermal roof inspections and nighttime photography and videography. However, the process of obtaining a daylight operations waiver, though not nearly as hard as it was in 2017, is still a tedious and intimidating process.

In part, this is because it requires more than simply submitting a detailed waiver request. The FAA wants you to keep written records documenting training and (recurrent!) testing of all crewmember regarding regulations and nighttime specific issues, as the below paragraph from an FAA “Request For More Information” that I received stated:


“What procedures will be followed to ensure all the required persons in the operation have the knowledge to recognize and overcome visual illusions caused by darkness and understand physiological conditions which may degrade night vision? (Be specific. Provide assurance of knowledge for all participants – testing, record keeping, recurrent training are some examples. Include specific visual illusions and physiological conditions.)”


There are numerous paid training programs with tests available online, but I wanted to create my own set of test questions that addressed all areas of knowledge a remote pilot needs before conducting nighttime operations and make it available for free.
